DRUG POSSESSION
Consuming, possessing and dealing drugs are capital offenses punishable by death. These are not trivial offenses in any way!
Orders from security forces should be obeyed immediately. In Sri Lanka, uniformed people are respected and carry authority. Please behave in a polite and correct manner.
HOMOSEXUALITY
In Sri Lanka, male homosexuality is punishable by law and may invoke penalties up to sixty years in prison. We advise discretion instead of displaying a sense of mission. There is no analogous penal law for women. The more cosmopolitan quarters of Colombo do feature some pertinent bars and locations, but outing or same-sex unions should not be discussed, not even sotto voce.
